You do not have to struggle alone any longer. As a licensed therapist, I offer a compassionate and gentle approach that is effective and allows you to begin true healing and find purpose again. Together, we will explore the underlying roots of your symptoms. From there, I can utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques (cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, etc.) to help relieve your suffering and empower you to better cope and function.

I believe that the relationship between the client and therapist is the most powerful agent in your healing. In this safe space, you can be truly authentic and reclaim your sense of self and purpose. Although this process is not always easy, it is a beautiful and essential process.

What is my Approach? 

My approach can best be described as 'client centered'. Although I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, I always tailor my approach based on what your needs are. I aim to validate your emotions and experiences in several ways:

  • I provide Unconditional Positive Regard- this means that I accept who you are, where you are in your journey to wholeness, and will support you no matter what you are going through

  • I focus on Fostering Genuineness in our sessions- it is vital that I create a safe online space for you to be honest, feel heard, and be vulnerable.

  • I come from a place of Empathic Understanding- it is my goal to listen to you and understand your feelings and experiences from your perspective without judgement.

I prefer to use Evidence Based Therapies and Treatments.

Evidence Based Treatments are treatments that have been studied using well-established methods and have been proven to be effective with many kinds of people and trauma types. I believe in providing the best and most effective care that is available in treatment. Here are the ones I most often utilize in my work. Quite frequently, I use a combination of of these, depending on what you need...

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on understanding thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behavior. The aim is to initiate behavior change in small steps by introducing healthy behaviors and removing unhealthy behaviors from our lives. By becoming more aware of negative thinking, it allows you to navigate challenging life situations in a much more effective way. CBT has been shown to be especially effective with treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
DBT empowers people to learn skills in order to manage difficult emotions and decrease conflict. Focusing on four key areas, therapeutic skills are built in 1. Mindfulness: focusing on accepting and being present the here and now; 2. Distress Tolerance: being able to tolerate negative emotions rather than avoid them; 3. Emotion Regulation: developing healthy ways to manage and change intense and problematic emotions; and 4. Interpersonal Effectiveness: learning new ways to strengthen relationships by building assertiveness and communication skills.
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing)
A comprehensive and powerful approach that addresses how memories are stored in the body and how it informs experiences. Change happens through reprocessing of traumatic or negative memories due to the alteration of memory storage and the linkage to adaptive memory networks. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, auditory tones) to help with memory retrieval and forming positive connections. Successful reprocessing will neutralize disturbing memories. I am basic EMDR trained.

About Me

Hi! I’m Leighann and I’m so excited that you’ve found me and my page. I truly love what I do – I feel grateful that people have been trusting me and sharing their stories with me for over 13 years. I specialize in helping men and women move through their pain and suffering resulting from enduring traumatic experiences. It takes SO much courage to get started, show up, be vulnerable, and face overwhelming emotions but I believe that it is possible for you to experience relief from your pain, find healing from your trauma, and return to an authentic sense of self. I know how hard it is to come to place of self-acceptance and contentment.

My experiences struggling as I was growing up with a disability (I was born with a hearing loss) has become a lifelong path to self-acceptance and hope. My own journey has been full of ups and downs as I battled with difficult emotions (such as feeling anxious, inadequate, and alone), navigated challenging life transitions, embraced limitations, and struggled to find a healthy view of myself. It is my deepest desire that you do not struggle alone! All of my personal experiences, in addition to the formal training I have received, have forged within me my greatest strength/ my ‘superpower’…an amazing ability to listen, to connect with you deeply, and understand your pain while helping you find your voice and self again so that you can not only cope but THRIVE and be the person you were meant to be!

Originally from the Midwest (hello Michigan!), I have been blessed with a life of adventure and have been fortunate to have lived all over the country. When I’m not working from my home office, I can be found hanging out with my husband and 3 children, reading books, or working on a creative project.
